Getting there was the first ride. I left Bowen Island on the ferry into a snowstorm, took a cab the long way into Vancouver because snow and that city don't mix, and made it to a hotel one of the girls had booked. Suddenly I had a friend from another country I'd never met, in a city I'd never been to. We went to dinner and met up with another of the women, also in town on her own.

Over the next twenty-four hours the rest arrived, one by one, from all over the world. It rained harder than I have ever seen it rain, so I went to the museum and accidentally learned about inflation and the Argentinian dollar. I have the photos. They're hilarious.
